Do I need to seam seal the fly

l have a new Marmot Swallow tent and it has a silicone impregnated fly 
krabby paty
rated at 2000 mm .It is factory taped throughout the tent . Although l

points, l wonder if using silnet is necessary for the fly. l have to use

it on the outside obviously since the inside is taped but is it visible

once it dries? Is it necessary? An average tarp has a water rating of 1000 
mm ... and with a good taped fly at 2000 mm l wonder if l should even

I wouldn't, especially if the back of the fly is already taped,

you dont need both sides sealed. The Sil-nylon flys are great, i`ve had

mine for about 5 years now and still haven't had to seal them myself, the

back of the seam is taped. They are even doing that on jackets now,

instead of taping the seams on the outside so it`s visible they are taping

the seams and sometimes even the pockets from the inside, this way its not

The left-over seam sealer product will probably dry up in the

container. Go ahead and use it up. It is not like it will keep, nor is it
